Q:Do I need to keep holding the button on the hand spray to maintain "shower" flow? Or, can it be fixed in one or another position hand-free for either flow pattern?
A:
You don't have to hold the button down for the spray mode, just pressing it will switch to that mode and pressing it again will go back to stream.

Does the faucet pullout to allow countertop pot filling? If so, what's the length of hose extension?

This faucet does not have a pullout hose. However the spout is flexible which gives the faucet a longer reach.
