Q:I'm concerned about how water drains from the side without the drain to the other one. Is it angled?

Yes the smaller portion slopes slightly so the water can drain out efficiently.

Q:I would like to see more pictures or have a better explanation of the best function of the raised ledge portion of this sink?

The purpose of the raised ledge is to put the colander in and be able to rinse the vegetables and have the water go down the cascading area.

A little bit narrow and seems designed for high riser faucets rather than the eurodisc model we have, otherwise the sink is awesome and the draining ledge is a great feature for our purposes
