Bitterly Disappointed by Chrome-Plated Plastic Part

Style-wise, the AXOR Montreux Prep-sink faucet was the design I was looking for: a modern but understatedly retro aesthetic, and small enough that it wasn't going to dominate our modest, open-plan living area like some weird homage to a science lab. It wasn't cheap (the best part of $800) but being Hansgrohe, I felt I was paying for quality. Imagine my disappointment (shock, actually) when after less than two months of *very* gentle use - only my husband and I treating our new kitchen with kid gloves - to find the chrome tinsel peeling away from the toggle spray diverter, which is used to switch between spray and regular flow. This is when I found out that a key part on this expensive faucet is - what?! - plastic??! I could not believe it! How does this faucet have any HOPE of doing its job as the workhorse of the kitchen with a piece of PLASTIC front and center? I am so, so disappointed. Hansgrohe were responsive in replacing the pull out sprayer nozzle, but the replacement nozzle has the same plastic toggle spray diverter bar, so I have no confidence it will last. (I also don't know if the warranty date on the new spray nozzle dates from when I received it, or from the original purchase date of the faucet?) An extremely poor manufacturing decision that is, quite frankly, shameful. We would not purchase this faucet again.
