This needs to be vented. All plumbing codes require connection to a vent system. Please note that the vent system should be a two-way air vent.

I am a plumber and we had to use some type of pump to get the waste water up to the drainage sustem from bastment. We set it up under the service sink and dumped the washing machine into the sink also. This house is located on the beach, so the washing machine runs allot. The first pump we put in was six years old and we replacced it. It's a tough little pump.
Over the past 10 years, I have installed several Saniflo toilet pump systems in basements. This is my first 'small' Saniflo pump system. I installed the unit under the counter in a basement bar sink cabinet. It's important to note that the reasons this particular model was chosen was the clean appearance of the product and the footprint which would need to fit inside a 15" cabinet base (with 13" inside clearance). The supply and discharge lines were located on the cabinet side rather than the rear. The pump was turned sideways and easily fit in the small cabinet. The installation went smoothly and quickly. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. I spent about 30 minutes hooking all the pipes up to the unit -- sink drain, discharge and vent. The discharge line was 9 feet vertical and 30 feet horizontal. The unit performed flawlessly. I was very satisfied and will no doubt order additional Saniflo products when needed.
I have installed three (3) saniflo unit to date and I cannot say enough good things about them. They are easy to install, work extremely efficiently and are the most economical way to add an additional bath, sink or shower.
Great pump, works well and has several options for different applications.
