The cabinet can be installed as a recess mount. For a surface mount installation you would need to get the mirror side kit to cover up the sides. The cabinet is made of anodized aluminum.

I had an issue with the cabinet. However, Quality Bath is very focused on customer satisfaction and did an outstanding job with remedy to fix this situation. I am so impressed with your customer orientation that purchased more products from them.
Bought two cabinets. Both came as ordered, fit perfectly and are great looking. One box did not have the shelves and these are now being replaced by Quality Bath. A good experience.
